BACKPACK ALASKA IS HIRING!

We’re looking for a crew member to help us in the ‘office’! Our expeditions have a lot of moving parts and we leave service often. We are looking for a crew member that isn’t scared of a challenge, can think on their feet, and likes to take ownership of their projects.

Position is remote but ideally candidate is within Alaska/Anchorage area.

Job Description:

  • First and foremost we are here for our clients. The bulk of the position will initially be answering client emails relating to trip specifics, gear questions and logistic support.

  • Communication with vendors (hotels, air taxis, shuttles) to schedule and confirm bookings.

  • Weekly outreach emails.

  • Potential for social media management.

  • Weekly commitment of 5-10 hours with the potential to grow into more.
    Pay $15+ Hr DOE

Qualified Applicants should have the following…

  • Familiarity with traveling in the Alaska Backcountry ie. bush flying, backpacking, animals, gear, weather (at minimum a burning love for the state and desire to get deeper into it)

  • Detail Oriented - In the nitty gritty way, you have been known to enjoy a spreadsheet and keep meticulous lists of action items and know where all the pieces are at any given time.

  • Customer Service Experience - can you write a damn good email? Can you connect with a wide variety of people from different backgrounds and convey your interest in their questions through the written word? We love folks that can bring personality to their communication.

  • Can commit to respond to emails within 48 hours (consistent access to wifi/service).

  • Self starter and excellent communication written and verbal. Ability to manage time and get tasks completed on schedule.

  • Own a reliable computer you are willing to use for work.
