Terms & Policies

RESERVATION POLICIES:

A trip deposit of $1000 per person is required to reserve a Backpack Alaska trip. Payment is due, in full, 60 days prior to trip departure date. If booking the trip fewer than 60 days from departure payment is due in full at the time of booking to reserve a spot. If booking a custom trip 90 day terms apply.

CANCELLATION POLICY:

If cancelled 60 days or more prior to trip departure date you will receive a 50% refund of your deposit amount. Cancellations made less than 60 days from trip departure will not be refunded. Trip purchase price may be applied towards a different Backpack Alaska trip, valid for two years, if cancelled 45 days before trip departure. Cancellations made within 45 days of departure cannot be refunded and will not receive credit.

COSTS NOT COVERED IN PRICE:

What’s not included on any of our departures?
-Personal gear (sleeping bags, sleeping pads, backpacks, etc.)
-Additional costs due to weather delays (additional nights at hotels, meals, etc.)
-Trip Cancellation Insurance
-Additional nights in a hotel before or after trip
-Guide gratuities (Suggested 5-10% of the trip price)
-Additional costs

TRIP INSURANCE:

As we have described the unpredictable nature of Alaskan weather we are unable to guarantee our scheduled departure date, see BUSH FLYING 101 for more info. We strongly recommend purchasing trip insurance for this reason. We are unable to reimburse, or cover costs related to weather related changes or delays. This includes changing commercial flights, hotel expenses for additional nights in town, any any other unforeseen costs.

EMERGENCY EVACUATIONS:

At BA we do our best to mitigate risks associated with remote backpacking trips. We do not wish to dampen your enthusiasm for adventure travel but want the risks of such a trip understood. Accidents, incidents, and injuries may occur. Our trips take place in wilderness regions and because of this evacuations are often expensive, difficult, and prolonged. Emergency personnel and medical facilities are often very far away or not immediately available. It is your responsibility to be prepared to cover emergency medical costs yourself, or carry insurance.
